In 1962, the Hans Merensky Trust donated the grounds of the club to Tzaneen area locals, to develop a nine hole golf course. In 1964 the second nine was developed and is today known as our back nine. The front nine has long escalating and curving fairways, giving the long drivers a chance to show their mettle. The back nine boasts tricky slopes and angles, giving the game a bit more edge. The course has a wide variety of trees indigenous to South Africa, all planted strategically, giving the course a picturesque beauty, with towering green mountains as a backdrop. Our clubhouse, overlooking the Ramadipa dam, has a bar with a beautiful double horse-shoe counter, pool table, TVs (with Dstv) and a dartboard to keep all entertained. For a warmer atmosphere, our lounge area has an old sleeper-wood fireplace for the cold winter months. The kitchen/tea garden at halfway house, is outsourced to Tea-On-The-Green, offering tantalising eats and drinks for all taste buds, as well as catering for any and all functions. In our time we have hosted 2 Sunshine Tour Pro-Ams in the early nineties, as well as the Dale Hayes pitch and putter. In 2011 the Dale Hayes Classic was hosted here and Mr Hayes commented on airing that “TCC is the unfound gem of SA golf courses”. Once a year the club has a four day tournament called the Koraalboom, a tradition that has had many visitors coming back for more than 35 years. We might be seen as a “klein dorp” country club, but be rest assured that anyone who plays here is treated like a friend, and more often than not, comes back to play again.
