The Golfschaukel Stegersbach Lafnitztal consists of two 18-hole courses (the Südburgenland course and the Panorama course), a 9-hole course, two driving ranges, pitching and putting greens and a chipping area. In addition to this, there is also a 5-hole Fun Course for newcomers to the sport who have not yet got their course licence. Together these make the 50-hole Golfschaukel Austria’s biggest golfing venue! The golfing region with 20 courses The Golfschaukel is located in the heart of one of Europe’s most interesting and varied golfing regions with 117 fairways within a radius of 19 km. This is the countryside where apples, peaches, squashes and vines ripen in the region’s mild climate; where at every turn in this gentle undulating landscape, you will find evidence of past cultures and times gone by; where pleasantly warm thermal spas will tempt you to bathe in all seasons, and where unlimited golfing pleasure awaits you at the golf clubs of the spa country. 20 golf courses in the most beautiful regions of Styria and Burgenland – and now in Slovenia and Hungary too – have come together under one ‘golfing umbrella’. From fine parkland courses to wide open holiday courses and first-class facilities for beginners, golf here in spa country is as varied as the countryside itself. Despite its relative ‘youth’, the Golfschaukel golf club has an eventful history behind it. The club was founded in 1997 when the course was set up. Having originated from the visionary ideas of the Rogner company for an overarching development for the ‘Golfing and thermal resort of Stegersbach’, which they then put into practice in 1997, the club has continued to develop steadily, despite various disruptions caused by changes of ownership and name. The golf club is now the largest in the Burgenland. This golf course’s many facilities, the range of memberships designed to meet every golfer’s requirements and its now famous feel-good atmosphere attract many new members to our club every year. Celebrity guests are no rarity here As well as our skiing (and of course golfing) queens Renate Götschl and Michaela Dorfmeister, our honorary member Hans ‘Holeador’ Krankl plays his rounds of golf at the Golfschaukel. Olympic sailor Andi Geritzer often swaps his sailing boat for a golf club and the undulations of our 45 holes. It’s not the golf but the course’s unique setting in the wonderful, rolling hills of South Burgenland that has tempted the director of the Schönbrunn zoo to become a member of the Golfschaukel golf club.
