The Domburgsche Golf Club is proud to be recognized as one of the few genuine links courses in Western Europe. Established in 1914 on the island of Walcheren in the South West of Holland, the Domburgsche has recently celebrated its centenary. Nestling between high sand dunes, with a number of the tees and greens providing spectacular views across the North Sea, the course was originally designed by the golf professional E.C.Warren. In the early 1900s it provided a unique golfing opportunity for both local residents and the many tourists who visited Domburg. The Domburgsche suffered considerably from naval bombardment during the Second World War, but thanks to the efforts of both members and the government, it once more became 'in play' in 1955.
Today, the course is characterized by rolling fairways, bunkers and also many grass bunkers (originally craters resulting from shelling during the war). The greens are fast and always in good condition thanks to both the skills of the greenkeepers and the exceptional weather – a lot of sun, little rain and stiff sea breezes. Due to the natural drainage of the dunes, it also means that the course is playable in both summer and winter. A number of subtle alterations and improvements made by the golf architect Alan Rijks, combined with the (usually) good weather along the coast, make the 9 holes of the Domburgsche one of the most challenging courses in Holland. We look forward to welcoming you to our club house, to enjoy its excellent hospitality. So why not contact the Secretary's office and start planning an unforgettable golf experience? We look forward to seeing you soon.
