It is a ‘links style’ heath land course with a rich history. The current location on the Soestdijkerstraatweg in Hilversum was acquired in 1917. Henry Burrows initially designed a nine holes course and in 1923 the International Dutch Championship was played here for the first time (and won by Henry Burrows himself!). In 1928 the course was expanded to 18 holes using a design of the well known architect, Sir Harry Colt. Sir Guy Campbell made further modifications, most notably to the par fives, in the early 1950s. Recently Kyle Phillips remodeled various holes including a major renewal and redesign of several greens aimed at restoring specific Colt characteristics of the course. This delightful course, which winds its way through the woods and forest, has played host to 26 Dutch Opens and had the honour of hosting the tournament again in 2012.
